Laws of OOC

.

I hate OOC as much as the next person but, with the way things stand, and in order to have a good and relaxing forum to play in, some rules need to apply. A good friend, originally created these GLs and I want to acknowledge that. I would appreciate any input on these rules, as well as any additions the citizens deem worthy. These GLs were placed into Brundisium Laws after being voted on by the High Council of Brundisium, Under the leadership of Jagger Lawson. They will be followed to the letter without exception.

1. Mun consent: You Role Playing in a Brundisium room is your consent. Period. If you begin Role Play and things do not go your way, do not think that you can suddenly decide the RP isn't for you and yet be allowed to continue elsewhere in Brundisium. If your character is engaged in Role play and you find it to be play you are not comfortable with, then at the very least you need to Role play an exit, if the exit is blocked with a roll or you are fighting you need to roll an escape roll. Once you play something in a storyline, you are accepting that storyline.  Role-play how  your character would deal with it and move on.  Also, do not START a SL that you don't intend on finishing.  Too many times people have come to Brundisium, started a SL, then screamed foul and mun consent when they got exactly what they deserved.  ANYONE found doing this will be immediately placed on ignore in the City of Brundisium. We do not seek consent on every storyline in our group.  However, we do not go for constant drama and danger sls. If this is your idea of fun, perhaps Brundisium is not for you.

2. Brundisium Ignore: When a City-wide Ignore order is issued, it is done to protect the role play enjoyment and environment of the City and Citizens. All Brundisium Ignores are to be acknowledged by every citizen in the City. This means that if you are Role playing with a character on Ignore, your character is subject to expulsion from the City.

3. Bolt: It is not generally accepted that someone be bolted from a room in Brundisium, however, there are cases when it is necessary. A few examples of an acceptable use of the bolt: After guards have been played removing someone and the mun doesn't leave, People with no profiles, non Gor Profiles, or people who are just lurking without entering for extended period of time, If someone is Harassing you in IM's or Emails about the RP in the room you are urged to bolt and block.

4. Crossing: Crossing-characters and OOC/IC crossing will not be tolerated. Any character using OOC knowledge or knowledge not obtained by that specific character will be subject to expulsion. If you find out something OOC do not attempt to say you learned it from guards. for example Lady X is displaying behavior unbecoming a FW. Unless the mun of Lady X (or any other people involved in the RP) sends you the log as well as state that it is a guard report, it will be considered Crossing. Similarly, any character discovered using OOC reasons as a basis for their character's actions will be subject to expulsion and/or City wide ignore. Muns who insist on attempting to solve their IC chars problems by taking it OOC in the room, IM's or email are also subject to expulsion. All expulsions and or Ignores will be the result of a city wide vote, Those in danger of expulsion will be allowed to vote on their own behalf. Also on the Lines of crossing. No mun will have Two characters holding a major city position. If you are found holding more than one position... Any Positions held will be revoked. You may have one Character work his or her way back into a position after a penalty of three mun months.
Mun Harassing, Whining, Bashing. or Flaming will not be tolerated. No Mass OOC Emails will be tolerated. If you have an OOC Problem with someone and you can not settle between you it can be brought to me and we will try to work it out Maturely and Rationally.

5. LOGS: The Logging of scenes, or events is a personal choice, as is what you do with those logs. A log is required if you plan to compalin about someone either IC or OOC. For IC the log would be treated as the testimony of a guard as witness. However, the sending of a log that interrupts, disrupts, or affects the good Role Play or Players of Brundisium will not be tolerated.

6. Age: AOL Gor is not a forum for minors. To Role Play in Brundisium you Must be at least 18. There are no exceptions to this rule.

7. Children Characters: No Munned child under the age of 16 should be played in a Public Brundisium Area or any public room, without a Munned adult Character of their house, Preferably the Child's Parents. They can be played in PR's all they wish.

8. Storylines: ALL role play/storylines concerning threats of raids or attacks, that include any potential harm to the City, or the Citizens must be approved by the High Council.

9. Travel: Unrealistic timing is discouraged, it would be impossible for a person to get from the Sardar to Brundisium in the blink of an eye, or the click of a mouse, whichever the case may be.

10. Art Work: If you create art work, or any other such things like, Coat of arms, logos, etc., specifically for Brundisium, they become the property of Brundisium. If you later leave the city, you may NOT claim copyright or demand it no longer be used.

11. Please pay attention to the roleplay in the room.  If someone rp's being in the Inn's kitchen and you're in the main sitting room, unless your screaming, there would be no way you could know what is going on in that kitchen IC.  The walls were not made of glass and there were no intercom systems.

12. Keep out of character posts in the chat rooms to a minimum.  Just role play out the situation with the characters without instant messaging the other players with whining or complaining.  If you don't understand a situation that your character is involved in, it is acceptable to instant message to clarify.

13. Do not use thoughts as a means to insult the mun or the char you're interacting with.  This can be difficult, and we have all done it at least one time in our tenure here.  Do not use thought bubbles as a means to read minds.  The exception to this rule is if you are a slave and your owner looks into your eyes.  In actuality this is played as an action bubble, just keep it positive and creative.  Keep in mind also that there are many styles of roleplay.  Each person in the group is different; respect that.

14. Keep mun players out of the storyline as much as possible.  Role-play your character.  If you do not like the way a character acts, then role-play your reactions to it, but don't start a  feud between players.  Please do not mix your character with your player, they are two separate entities.  If a character has a bad reaction to your's, role-play it out.  Don't start messaging everyone in the group about how terrible that person is.  Don't destroy their character or their mun's good name.  Some characters are played with attitudes, prejudices, and histories that require them to have a negative reaction to certain situations.

15. If you have a problem with a player, then talk to them and try to resolve it.  If you are unable to resolve it yourselves, then scroll the Administrator.  Sometimes the situations are simple misunderstandings, and a resolution can quickly be reached with the help of a third party.  No matter what the issue, DO NOT bring it into the role-play.  OOC wrangling of the City of Brundisium's storylines will NOT be tolerated.

16.  Remember that this should be enjoyable for everyone.  Men, women, and kajirae are all part of this City and will be included in the storylines.  Every player has input on the storylines.  No one will be ignored and all players are expected to interact with everyone in the City on some level.  Do not block those of the City from being able to see you online unless you absolutely have to.  Can't participate in the SL if no one knows you're online.  Do not use your mun feelings against the muns of others to affect your Characters' interactions.  Be adult or be gone.  Do not take all the attention and intentionally overplay everyone in the room.  The joy in this game is the interaction with others.  We are all important to the City.  Characters have rank, status, and roles, and we will acknowledge that but the players are all equal.

17. Dice Guidelines: The Dice Guidelines for Brundisium are as follows: Anyone Attempting a poisoning or an AA will need to roll a 4-pt hit for it to be effective. If you attempt either and miss you will be arrested and punished to the full extent of Brundisium Laws.
